Come Down To Me

by Susan Kotler

/

about

A "neo-spiritual" about acceptance.

The incantation in the bridge section was inspired by the "Song of Amergin," an ancient Celtic poem that has been interpreted as an invocation to natural forces, an affirmation of unity, as a creation incantation, or a magical war chant designed to give one power over one’s enemies.

lyrics

Chorus
Come down to me on weary wings
Oh
And rest beside the crystal springs
Oh

Verse 1
You’ve struggled long against the storm
Oh
You’ve lost your hope, and your faith’s undone
Oh
You’ve been so far out on your own
Oh

[Chorus]
Verse 2
I don’t reject you for your flaws
Oh
Contrary ways, and outspoken thoughts
Oh
The strangeness that scares others off
Oh

[Chorus]

Bridge
I am the fracture in the frozen lake
The line of fire burning the last mistake
I am the gale force the boughs to break
The falling of cradles in the final quake
Past away!

Verse 3
I’ve always been your one true friend
Oh
A witness to your suffering
Oh
A comfort at your journey’s end
My little one, you’re home

Last Chorus
So, come down to me on your weary wings
Oh
And rest beside these crystal springs
Oh
